All artists are immersed in their art. David Schluss, however has taken this involvement to new heights, with the special technique he has created. His bare hands are the paintbrushes, and his body and soul change his work, flowing onto the canvas through his fingertips. The artistic ideas he aspires to convey are actually a flow of his thought waves through his hands and fingertips, which mix and condense the colors with their circular motions until taking upon their final form on the canvas.

This intimate use of his fingertips enables Schluss to create the overpowering warmth and directness that is so evident in his paintings. Every gesture of the hand and finger constitutes a presence, and every contour continues the movement of the artist's body.

"Most artists make a practice "sketch" of the image they are creating before the final composition. This is not how I work. My images come straight from my imagination and exit through my fingertips onto the canvas. I feel the painting as I am creating it and figures emerge almost arbitrarily. It's as though the dancers and musicians have a life of their own, finding their right place into the flow of my paintings".    David Schluss
